The Vampire Diaries next Thursday to The CW with a brand new season, featuring a lot of new faces in Mystic Falls.

Kat Graham Thinks It's 'Really Fun To Be Back' In Her 'Witchy Boots' As Bonnie On New 'Vampire Diaries' Season

Aside from the large amount of new characters on the series, viewers will see Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) in a much different manner than in the last season.

He is dealing with his Elena-less (Nina Dobrev) life now.

Will Damon & Stefan Torture Lily In New 'Vampire Diaries' Season?

The CW Television Network's YouTube channel uploaded an interview with the actor, in which he divulged, "Damon in particular is sort of grappling with the loss of Elena and what that really means."

Also in the video a scene is teased of Damon alongside Bonnie (Kat Graham) in which he declares, "I haven't even begun to approach rock bottom."

The pair will bump heads since Damon has mixed feelings toward her given if she dies he will get Elena back, but Elena wouldn't be happy with that.

"So every time he looks at Bonnie all he sees is not Elena," Somerhalder explained.

More snippets of scenes between Bonnie and Damon are teased, which show the resentment that lingers amongst them.

"You know how many days need to tick by before I see Elena again? 22,916 days and that's assuming you get some old person's disease," Damon tells Bonnie while it is shown that he has been drinking plenty of alcohol as a coping mechanism.

By the video's end it looks like Damon will do the heroic and right thing by protecting Bonnie though from a speeding car despite his pain felt from missing Elena.

The series returns to The CW in the fall for Season 7 on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
