They've been successful thus far at keeping their daughter out of the limelight and have even managed to keep photos of her from being leaked to the press, but new reports suggest that Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are taking things too far when it comes to making sure their daughter is safe and secure.

According to OK Magazine, the couple has been using military-style rules with their friends and family to keep Esmeralda, 1, out of the spotlight, and that the rules are starting to become ridiculous.  

In addition, Mendes, 41, has reportedly become extremely paranoid about her daughter's safety not only from the paparazzi, but the outside world as well, with "maniacal" rules about personal hygiene that all guests have to follow.

According to sources, all friends and family are required to "wash their hands before they can play with Esme," in addition to other rules, which include forcing everyone to take their shoes off at the door. 

"She wants to minimize any outside germs being walked into the house," the source said.  

Overall, the source claims, Mendes is a bit of a "helicopter mom," even though she and Gosling are both good parents to their daughter-and the situation is getting out of hand.  

"She's always hovering over Esme and never lets her out of her sight," the source said.
