As ABC's Castle comes closer to its fall finale, there will be a couple things missing in its final episodes of 2015.

Castle is taking an extended break from the airwaves after Nov. 23 and won't return until February. This means that, regretfully, there won't be a holiday episode of Castle this year.

Castle co-showrunner Alexi Hawley spoke with TVLine recently and confirmed that there would be no holiday cheer in season 8.

"Unfortunately, because of the way ABC is platforming us - we do eight episodes and end [Nov. 23], and we're not on again until the beginning of February - we won't be on the air for the holidays," Hawley said.

This is the first time ABC has chosen to split a Castle season in such a drastic way, though it has become commonplace for several hit ABC shows. Other series that have pulled off the split season include Once Upon a Time, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Meanwhile, the TVLine report also says that they're hearing one of the upcoming fall episodes will feature very little Beckett (Stana Katic). She is expected to be in only one scene of this predicted Nov. 9 episode, if that. It is not known why she would fail to appear in a bulk of the episode but TVLine speculates it's due to her attending Milan Fashion Week in September.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
