Sister Wives star Meri Brown has confessed to having been involved in an emotional relationship with an online catfisher whom she believed to be a man, and now the reality star is opening up about how she was tricked into the situation and how it upset her greatly.

Meri & Janelle Resolve Their Issues?

"I became fearful of the online relationship as I became aware of the deception," she told People magazine. "I didn't know how to get out of the situation without putting myself, family, and friends at greater risk. It was a very difficult time. I had a lot of anxiety."

She admitted that the only way she eventually figured out how to get out of the situation was by coming clean to her husband, Kody, and fellow sister wives, Janelle, Christine and Robyn.

New Scandal Emerges About Maddie Brown

"My family was very concerned for our safety and angry that we had been targeted," she said. "They were relieved once I told them what was really going on and saddened that I had been so afraid of involving them that I didn't go to them sooner."

Meanwhile, the woman who allegedly tricked Meri into believing she was a 42-year-old businessman named Samuel Cooper-identified as Jackie Overton, was confronted by In Touch Magazine about her identity. However, Overton has denied she is who the magazine claims she is.

The magazine has posted an audio clip online of their confrontation with Overton in Shindler, Okla., where she claimed to be a woman named Kelsey Williams, and acted as if she had no idea who Overton was.
