There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Mel Gibson's new project, Hacksaw Ridge, which he has already begun directing.

According to a Forbes report this movie could very well revive Gibson's career, which has been flagging this past decade. Perhaps it could also do some good to his image, which also came under a lot of scrutiny after he was heard making slanderous and racist remarks some of which were construed as being antisemitic.

The report actually states that the actor is "generating plenty respect and goodwill" on the set, which is a big sign of approval. This could just put Gibson back in form and get audiences to love him again, like they used to.

A colleague of Gibson's also spoke to Forbes about the actor's approach as a director.

"He is an actor's director; he loves working with actors because he is one of them," he said.

The Guardian had already created the buzz about Gibson's comeback with this film last year.

Gibson's son Milo is also set to make his acting debut with Hacksaw Ridge, which stars Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, Rachel Griffiths and Teresa Palmer. The latest addition to the cast has been Huge Weaving.

The movie is based on the honourable Desmond T. Doss, who rescued 75 men in Okinawa during World War II without using any arms. Garfield plays Doss.

"It's about a man who wouldn't touch a weapon and wanted to be part of saving lives in the worst place on earth. I mean Okinawa was an horrific place... there were over 300,000 casualties, mostly civilian," Gibson said of the film in a press conference in Sydney, where the film is being shot.

This will be Gibson's fifth movie as director, adding to Braveheart, The Passion of the Christ, Apocalypto and The Man Without A Face.

The movie is set to release in 2016.
