The Green Bay Packers (11-5) will make the trek to Candlestick Park to take on the San Francisco 49ers (11-4) in the divisional round of the playoffs on Saturday.

The matchup will be a homecoming of sorts for Packers superstar Aaron Rodgers, who returns to northern California to do battle against the team he grew up rooting for. To add to the intrigue, the 49ers even passed on the quarterback in the 2005 NFL draft.

Ironically enough, San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick was born in Wisconsin and stated that he used to be a fan of Green Bay.

Nonetheless, the two field generals will be in the spotlight and up against juggernaut defenses in the highly anticipated NFC matchup.

Rodgers is originally from Chico, which is roughly a three-hour drive north of the Bay Area. He's only played in San Francisco during the preseason.

"Home is really Chico. Chico I would say is in northern California, San Francisco I would say is Bay Area. So it'll be fun to go back to the West Coast, a lot of people in the area, hopefully get a lot of cheeseheads from Chico coming down to the game and it'll be a good test," he told ESPN.

Kaepernick told the sports network that although he was a fan of the Packers and highly respects Rodgers, he 's indeed up for the tough task at hand.

"Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback. You see what he does on the field and you see performances he's been having, so you can't say enough about the guy. We're going to have to go out and put up points, he said.
