The new showrunners on ABC's Castle are assuring fans that they have no intention of killing any main characters.

How Will Rick & Kate Pay Homage To Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie On 'Castle'?

Castle showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter spoke with Entertainment Weekly this week amid speculation that they may kill off one of their co-leads. The speculation began when TVLine posted a blind item revealing that an hour-long show will kill off one of its co-leads in its fall finale.

Fans immediately took to the comment section and guessed that it was Castle, with Beckett (Stana Katic) as the probable victim between the two leads. But thankfully, Hawley and Winter have denied all of the speculation.

Will Detective Slaughter Become A Suspect In His Own Robbery Investigation On 'Castle'?

"We killed off Montgomery in season 3. We're not killing anymore people off," Winter said.

"[If it were true], I can't imagine we'd be sitting here saying you're going to be excited to see what happens in January," Hawley added. "'Beckett's dead, but don't worry about it, it's still going to be fun!' No, we're not. It's absolutely not true."

It is surely good news for Castle fans who have been through the wringer lately, with Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett being on a break since the second episode of the season. Beckett's thought process was wanting to protect Castle by distancing herself from him while she pursued the dangerous mission involving the Bracken (Jack Coleman) case.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
