Is there an actual reason behind most of the guys on FX's American Horror Story: Hotel looking so similar?

'American Horror Story' Star Evan Peters Has Some 'Weird' Feeling About Onscreen Nudity

Since casting on American Horror Story: Hotel, a meme has spread around showing just how similar the guys in the cast look. The guys in question are Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Finn Wittrock, Max Greenfield and Wes Bentley. All five actors have dark hair and blue/green eyes and what many would call classically handsome features.

Jackson recently spoke with Vulture about this very picture, hinting that there may be more behind it than just coincidence.

Why Hasn't FX Renewed 'American Horror Story' For Next Season Yet?

"People are aware. Once that picture of all five of us hit the internet, it just became a thing," Jackson said. "I was sitting with Wes the other day and I'm like, 'What do you think that's all about?' And he's like, 'Well, I'm sure they are going to explain it.'"

Jackson even admitted that they are sometimes mistaken for each other on set!

"I remember my second day on set, one of the [assistant directors] was like, 'Here, can you sign out here, Finn?' And I'm like, 'Oh, I'm not Finn.' And he's like, 'Oh, I'm sorry, Matt.' And I'm like, 'Nope. It's Cheyenne, actually.'" Jackson recalled. But the star isn't sweating it. "There are worse things than to be compared to Matt Bomer."

American Horror Story boss Ryan Murphy even alluded to theories that they're all just his "type" in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"I love the theory that they're all my type. When I read that, I was like that's hilarious," he said. "Yes, I completely cast the show with all men that are my sexual prototype. Of course there's a reason! It's established. Matt Bomer even says it in the second episode. There is a reason for [Lady Gaga's character The Countess'] insanity that's very deeply wounded and her core wound. Why are all these men who have a very similar aesthetic around her? Why is she the only platinum blonde? I just love reading people's theories on it."

American Horror Story: Hotel airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
