Why was Bones curiously missing from the midseason schedule sent out by Fox today?

Brennan & Booth's 'Fire' On 'Bones' Will Be Brought Back Through Season 11

Bones, currently in its 11th season on Fox, was nowhere to be found on the midseason schedule released today.

The crime procedural starring Emily Deschanel as Brennan and David Boreanaz as Booth has been in the Thursdays at 8 p.m timeslot this season but according to the midseason schedule, American Idol will be airing from 8-10 p.m. on Thursdays this winter.

'Sleepy Hollow' Star Tom Mison Admits He Thought The 'Bones' Crossover Was Stupid At First

Fox only has one line about Bones in the press release, stating, "The return dates for BONES and THE LAST MAN ON EARTH to be announced."

The procedural is fresh off a crossover special with Sleepy Hollow, which will transfer to Fridays at 8 p.m. in midseason.

The ratings proved strong for both shows, as they were up 20 percent from the previous Thursday, giving Fox its best Thursday since premiere week.

While there are no other Bones crossovers planned for the future (that we know of), it's safe to say the crossover was a successful risk for the network.

But is Bones on its way out? The show is in its 11th season which is a long time for any show to be on the air. It will presumably return at some point in the midseason but if the network could not find room for it now, perhaps it's not a high priority for Fox like it used to be.

Bones airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
