It's been 97 years since the world underwent a nuclear holocaust. Although the bombs continue to have a major impact on all of humanity, viewers know very little about what spark the conflict. Now that Jaha and Murphy have made it to the alleged City of Light, however, answers will come spilling out.

Were the bombs really controlled by Alie the AI? There is one man who knows for sure. Formerly billed as "Frantic Man," the previous owner of Murphy's new bachelor pad is set to return at least twice during the spring run, as per IMDB (see video below). Played by James Neate and redubbed Chris, this character may be the key to understanding what really happened all those years ago.

"We will understand everything, and it will be surprising. It has a big impact on the present-tense story," series creator Jason Rothenberg informed TV Guide Magazine. The showrunner later told San Diego Comic-Con attendees that "we're going to understand a lot more about the world and how the world got to be the way that it is. It's an origin story."
