It appears the recent outing that Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes had with their daughter on Halloween may have been a stunt to try and hide alleged issues in their relationship.

According to a new report in Star Magazine, the couple has been struggling ever since the September 2014 birth of their daughter, Esmeralda, because they've been having a hard time dealing with being new parents, and Mendes has had a hard time adjusting to be being a working mom.  

Sources told the magazine that the situation has gotten increasingly worse over time, as Mendes has become less of the fun-loving person she was when they started dating, and more like someone who "coops up" with her daughter and refuses to leave the house for days at a time-leaving her beau to find company elsewhere when he decides to go out.

"He's mostly been seen dining out alone or accompanied by a male friend. I used to see Eva and Ryan there all the time and they looked really happy together. But not anymore." 

The source also seemed to believe that it was a sure sign of trouble, because long-term couple Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt exhibited similar behaviors before they split earlier this year. 

"The same thing happened with Jon Hamm shortly before Jennifer Westfeldt announced their breakup-he started eating by himself." 

In addition, Mendes' reported jealousy over Gosling's working relationship with Emma Stone is only adding to the problems-and despite having a daughter with her, the actor may be unable to continue dealing with the drama. 

"Ryan' normally a chill guy, but he feels stifled by Eva," the source said. "It's not the way he wants to live."
