If rumors that Eva Mendes has been worried about how close Ryan Gosling is to his La La Land co-star Emma Stone have any truth in them, it appears her efforts to control her relationship are actually backfiring.

According to a new report in Star Magazine, Gosling has become so stressed out by the situation with Mendes that he's grown closer to now three-time co-star Stone, who has been a shoulder for him to lean on as he continues to deal with his relationship woes.  

"He explained the situation to Emma and said he didn't want Eva to misconstrue any time spent off-set together. He was already in enough trouble," sources told the magazine. "Emma offered to call Eva to try and smooth things over, but Ryan told her it was pointless."

However, since then, the 26-year-old has allegedly been a major source of support to Gosling as his relationship supposedly continues to unravel.  

Rumors have run rampant about the state of Gosling and Mendes' relationship ever since the 34-year-old actor teamed up with Stone for La La Land, their third time starring together in a film as love interests, following their previous successes in Crazy Stupid Love and Gangster Squad.  

Rumors even circulated last month that Mendes was sick of waiting for Gosling to propose, and combined with her fear he would cheat with Stone, she chose to leave him and was filing for full custody of their one-year-old daughter, Esmeralda, in the process.
