Fans of the ABC crime thriller Secrets and Lies are going to officially have to wait a bit longer before the show returns for a second season.

Micheal Ealy Dishes On 'Disturbing' Plot Twists

The show, which was initially slated to fill Nashville's spot during the midseason break, has not only had its slot filled with a different show, but it isn't even on the midseason schedule that ABC has officially released.

In addition, it isn't going to be airing when it was supposed to at all, with American Crime's season 2 finale scheduled for March 9th - and Nashville immediately resuming with new episodes the following week. There is no word on what the plan is for Secrets and Lies in the upcoming season.

'Secrets And Lies' Being Pushed Back In Favor Of 'American Crime'

The show's first season was a surprise hit, following the story of Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe), who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a local boy, who turns out to be his illegitimate son. However, after a twisty story which saw him tortured and implicate himself more than he should, the real culprit was proven to be his younger daughter, Abby (Belle Shouse). Ben, in an effort to protect her, turns himself in for the crime, and is strongly hinted to have died in prison shortly after his arrest.

The show performed well in its Sunday night slot from April to June, and since shows for those dates are not revealed on ABC's schedule, there is a chance the show is instead going to air once again during the same timeframe it did last year instead.

Fans nervous about the bad sign that comes from a show being pushed back, however, shouldn't worry, as it appears the cast is still filming scenes.

Kenny Johnson, who will portray Danny on the new season (which follows the mystery behind the murder of Kate Warner, portrayed by Jordana Brewster, who's husband Eric, portrayed by Michael Ealy, is the prime suspect), took to his Twitter page with updated photos of the cast goofing off together on-set between takes Nov. 18, signifying things are still on track and the show has yet to be canceled.
