Blacklist fans rooting for Ressler and Samar's burgeoning romance were subjected to a devastating twist as the midseason finale come to a close.

In the wake of Samar's "Zal Bin Hasaan" emotional rollercoaster and her tryst with Ressler, the Mossad agent decided to throw caution to the wind and support Team Liz. While she ultimately helped Liz save Red, Samar quickly felt the wrath of Ressler as the Post Office leader sent her packing.

Estranged from the FBI, where will Samar be when The Blacklist returns in January?

"In the back half of the season, she's not working with Ressler and the team. That would leave her open and available to potentially have some back-channeling with Reddington," series creator Jon Bokenkamp teased, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Those two have a very unusual and very mysterious relationship. I would think it might be likely to see Red and Samar perhaps teaming up in some capacity."

Samar and Ressler's, the entire affair will force Aram to chose a side as well.

"It has put a wedge in the task force in a way that we haven't had before, and puts people on different sides of the aisle," Bokenkamp warned.
