In a recent interview with Variety Alfred Enoch talked about the contentious Annalise (Viola Davis) shooting in the mid-season finale and how that would affect her relationship with his character Wes.

Wes Is Going To Have To Question His Entire Life

After Wes shot Annalise, things are bound to tense up between the two of them in the upcoming episodes, set to return in January. Enoch revealed that things will get pretty complicated in that regard.

"There's an intimacy between them, which complicates the issue with him shooting her and trying to kill her, which obviously is why the betrayal feels so stark and so painful," he said. "It's a very complicated relationship because to some degree, he knows he can't trust her, but I don't think he would have ever suspected that--even though he's been suspecting her throughout all the season."

Will Nate Rat Annalise Out?

When asked about Wes's motive--if he actually wanted Annalise dead or was simply vengeful and angry after finding out about Rebecca--behind the shooting, Enoch revealed that Wes actually wanted to kill her and not just hurt her.

"I think it's difficult to differentiate those thing," he said. "I want people to have the freedom to interpret it how they want, but he certainly goes over to her to finish off the job. I genuinely think his intention is to kill her."

The finale episode, titled "What Did We Do?," aired on ABC on Nov. 19.
