Supernatural will dive into season finale territory as they jump into the winter hiatus this Wednesday.

The Winchester bros. are ready to face down an adult version of The Darkness in "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?," and the storyline will enter territory that Jared Padalecki (Sam) didn't think the writer's would broach until much later in the season.

"[I didn't expect this] until at least the season finale, but we get right to it," Padalecki teased, according to TV Line. Unlike with most Supernatural season finales, however, any rift between Sam and Dean will be inconsequential. "The brothers are very committed to fighting alongside each other..."

It appears even Sam's visions - and his determination to act on them - won't have the boys at each other's throats.

Even so, the midseason finale and midseason premiere will be chock full of tantalizing surprises.

"Episodes 9 (the fall finale) and 10 are my favorite episodes of Supernatural in a long, long time," Padalecki told TV Line. "I love the twists and turns - none of which I can probably say without getting out of here alive."
