Guardian of the Galaxy's Star-Lord is ready to meet his dad, and Kurt Russell may be in line to play the big man himself.
Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) father intended to reunite with his sun following Peter's mother's death, but his grand plan didn't work out quite as he wished. When Vol. 2 drops, however, the leader of the Guardians will finally have the chance to unravel the mystery behind his mother's "angel."
According to The Wrap, The Hateful Eight's Russell is currently No. 1 in line for the part. Unfortunately, neither Marvel nor Russell's reps have confirmed the rumor.
When it comes to Quill's pops, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will surprise comic book readers when it veers away from the original source material.
"It's different than what's in the comic books," writer/director James Gunn teased, according to Uproxx. "Peter Quill's father is somebody different in the comics."
It is unknown if Russell's potential character will still be a member of the Spartoi Empire, or if he will be from a different race entirely.
