Is A Star From 'Orange Is The New Black' Going To Appear On 'Call The Midwife?'

On Saturday, Express shared details from Laura Main (Shelagh) who mentioned a few fun facts about the special episode. A producer will reportedly come to the church with a request to film a children's carol concert.

"Tom the vicar enlists Shelagh's help to get the choir together," Main said. "So although she's got her hands full with baby Angela and helping her husband, Dr. Turner (Stephen McGann), she takes on the challenge."

But it may not go as planned when something might risk the event.

"There's a health scare and it might have to be called off," the actress said. "It's a fun episode, full of ups and downs along the way, but a lovely storyline. Writer Heidi Thomas is so clever at putting in important topics like the need for vaccination."

When the series returns with new episodes for the fifth season, viewers can expect some things to change although the show will always keep up with its warmth and charm.

"Most of us are back for series five. It's always evolving and every year the tone of it changes, but it's still made with love and care," Main said. "Call the Midwife can be tough to watch at times and really upsetting, and then there's lightness and hope in there as well."

The Call the Midwife Christmas special airs on Friday, December 25 at 7:30 p.m. On BBC1.
