Despite some hints that Regina (Lana Parrilla) could be the new Savior on ABC's Once Upon a Time, the series co-creators are putting that theory to bed.

Is Hook Still 'Dark' On 'Once Upon a Time' While Living In Underworld?

It looks like Once Upon a Time co-creators will not be pursuing a Regina-as-the-Savior story arc in the second half of season 5. Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke with Entertainment Weekly and more or less squashed the idea of Regina becoming the Savior.

"I feel like that kind of got wrapped up in Camelot in a sense that she just did it to buy them time," Kitsis said. "She wasn't actually the Savior. She was trying to prevent Emma from using Dark magic and letting Arthur [Liam Garrigan] know, because they didn't want him to know what was up. I don't think it was ever really anything than just that."

So while Regina won't turn into the unsung hero in the second half of the season, she will be teaming up with Emma (Jennifer Morrison), for a little magic in the Underworld.

"They will both be using magic," Horowitz said, to which Kitsis added, "They will definitely be working together in the Underworld."

Season 5B will see our heroes braving the depths of the Underworld as they try to save Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), who essentially sacrificed himself for the good of Storybrooke in the midseason finale. It remains to be seen

Once Upon a Time returns Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
