It has finally been confirmed that the second half of Once Upon a Time's fifth season will introduce Hades.

How Emma's Journey Into Underworld On 'Once Upon a Time' Isn't Just 'About Hook'

Many Once Upon a Time fans have speculated that The Distinguished Gentleman, which Greg Germann was recently cast to play in the second half of the season, is actually Hades, the Greek god of the underworld.

As it turns out, this prediction was right on the money. Once Upon a Time co-creator Adam Horowitz spoke with Entertainment Weekly recently and confirmed the news.

Why 'Once Upon a Time' Is About To Feature 'A Lot' Of Regina

"We're going to be meeting the 'Once Upon a Time' version of Hades in the second half of the season," Horowitz said. "While he is both inspired by a myth and by the Disney movie version, as we like to do, we're trying to create our own 'Once Upon a Time' spin. We can't wait for everyone to see what [Germann] does with the character."

Hades was famously voiced by James Woods in the 1997 Disney animated film Hercules.

The Once Upon a Time version of Hades will also have an interesting connection to one of the characters.

"He absolutely has a surprising connection to one of our cast," fellow co-creator Edward Kitsis said, to which Horowitz added: "Before everyone runs to Twitter to give their opinions on it, he's not related to anyone, but there is a connection."

Hades will make his Once Upon a Time debut in the midseason premiere, which also happens to be the 100th episode of the series.

Once Upon a Time returns for the second half of season 5 on Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
