What should’ve been a heartfelt moment turned into a media nightmare for Paula Deen.

After announcing she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes three years ago, the Southern chef also revealed she would become the face for the diabetes drug Victoza.

According to the New York Daily News, Deen’s publicist of six years disagreed with the decision and quit.

“I couldn’t understand why they thought this was really good for the brand,” said Nancy Assuncao. “I’ve been in this business for 34 years, and I just didn’t see it.”

However, Assuncao doesn’t have any bad feelings toward Deen. “You have to be grateful for what you had, say thank you for six amazing year and wish her nothing but blessings,” she told the New York Daily News. Assuncao claims she hasn’t spoken with Deen since December.

Meanwhile, The Huffington Post reports that Deen, who continued to promote unhealthy foods after her diagnosis, is shocked by the lack of support she has received from other chefs.
