Shawn Mendes is already working on new music in 2016!
The new year has only just begun, but the 17-year-old Canadian musician appears to be hard at work on new tunes.
On Sunday afternoon, the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" singer dished on Twitter, "Writing some really special songs."
"Can't wait for you to hear," he noted.

The musician seems to have hit the studio for a writing session with two collaborators from his debut album Handwritten and its re-release Handwritten Revisited.
On Instagram Mendes shared a snap of himself alongside Geoff Warburton and Scott Harris.

These two co-wrote on a bunch of songs with Mendes. Warburton co-wrote on tracks, "Crazy" and "Bring It Back," to name a couple, while Harris is one of the writers behind the successful singles "Life of the Party" and "Something Big," amongst others.
The musician also shared a snap of himself in a recording booth so it seems as though aside from writing these "really special songs" he also began recording them.
