One Direction's hiatus is still something many fans are having a hard time accepting, but now there is even worse news about the British-Irish boy band.

On Wednesday morning, Us Weekly reported from a source that Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson decided to make their hiatus permanent.

Cue all the panic, screams and uncontrollable crying.

The source claims that the lads decided "not to renew their recording contract" after their latest tour concluded in October.

"The 1D thing just ran its course," the source stated, adding, "They'll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers."

Anyway, all the screaming and crying can stop since Billboard posted a rebuttal report in response to this report from the gossip magazine.

The music magazine dished its source insisted "nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members' own mouths."

None of the band members have commented on either of these reports since they have been enjoying their downtime. Payne actually hasn't posted on social media since sharing his buff bod post-holiday eating, whereas his bandmates have been slightly more active, but not much.

Hopefully one or more of them will share some insight soon since fans are losing it on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Some are experiencing shock.

Others are confused given the conflicting reports.

Some refuse to believe any report claiming a permanent split.

All of these emotions are making our heads and hearts hurt!
