Lexi is not just a German shepherd, she also knows how to save her loved ones from danger.

When her foster mother named Cecelia Patterson was unable to notice that their shed was burning, Lexi was quick to inform her master of the situation by barking loudly. The dog did not stop from barking until Patterson got up to go outside with her. This was the time when Patterson became aware that their shed was burning because it was hit by a bottle rocket.

It it was not for Lexi, Patterson would not have been able to immediately alert firefighters to save her house. She was also told that if she had called later, her house could have also been burned.

As a reward for Lexi's heroism, Patterson said that the dog, who was originally owned by a homeless Denise Default, can live with her as long as she wants to stay with her.
