The preview for the next episode of season 17 of Law & Order: SVU shows Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) dealing with a date rape case.

Showrunner Dishes About Rollins And Carisi Coupling Up  

In the clip for the episode, titled 'A Misunderstanding,' Benson is thrown into a sticky situation in which the guy claims the girl was into it and didn't resist him, whereas the girl claims otherwise. Benson says it's a classic he says she says case.

TVLine had previously reported that Hargitay would be directing an episode which deals with a high school date rape. The latest episode, titled 'Townhouse Incident,' was probably the most intense of the season 17 as Benson was found in a quite deadly predicament, and echo to a hostage situation she had been in before with the criminal Williams Lewis.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hargitay spoke about the episode.

"I didn't look at it as a case of something we'd done before, but as a chance to explore how someone who's been through what Olivia has been through handles finding herself in similar circumstances again," she said. "And to find a way of arming herself with the first experience and to work through it in a different way this time."

'A Misunderstanding' will air on Jan. 20 on NBC.
