He thought she was away to deal with her decision to give Daniel's heart away without going through the proper channels, but Steve (Stephen Nichols) will quickly learn that Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) is actually missing and never made it to Washington on Days of Our Lives.  

'Days of Our Lives' Being Renewed For New Season?

She has been gone for a while now and he hasn't heard anything, and if he finally learns she never made it to where she was supposed to go, he will begin to have suspicions that she met with some kind of foul play. He will then remember that they argued before she left about his believing Ava's (Tamara Braun) story of a son they shared--and it will make him suspect that Kayla paid her enemy a visit before she left. 

Now, he will confront Ava because he suspects she did something to Kayla, and he will demand answers so he can find the woman he loves and get her back before it's too late.

What Steve doesn't know yet is that his instincts are right on target, because Kayla did pay Ava a visit before heading out of town to confront her about both the story and the fact that she had been involved with Joey (James Lastovic) in an attempt to get Steve and Kayla back together. However, the confrontation didn't go as well as Kayla planned, after Ava clobbered her on the back of the head and knocked her out cold--and she has been hiding her ever since. 

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
