Marc Anthony will be honored by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) with the ASCAP Founders Award, one of its most prestigious honors.

Past recipients include: Rod Stewart, Ruben Blades, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder among others.

"Marc Anthony has sold over 12 million albums worldwide, making him one of the most influential artists of his time and a true ambassador of Latin music and culture," the ASCAP said in a statement released today.

The five-time Grammy winner will be honored at a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on March 20.

The Founders Award is the most prestigious honor that the organization presents to their members and is given to songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators, according to the statement.

Each recipient is a musical innovator who possesses a unique style of creative genius that will enrich generations to come.
