Emma Roberts has appeared in two seasons of FX's American Horror Story, but not the most recent one; should she return for season 6?

Should Frances Conroy Return To Play Another Quirky Character On 'American Horror Story'?

Roberts was missing from American Horror Story: Hotel, the show's most recent season. The actress was very busy playing one of the lead characters on Fox's Scream Queens and apparently couldn't find the time to fill anything for AHS.

Coven was Roberts' big American Horror Story debut where she played teen star/witch Madison Montgomery. The role allowed Roberts to go full diva, creating a humorous but complex character.

Then for Freak Show, Roberts returned for the relatively minor role of Maggie Esmerelda, a con artist masquerading as a fortune teller. Both seasons featured Roberts' characters falling in love with Evan Peters' characters, accurately matching the actors' real life feelings for each other.

Roberts recently spoke to Yahoo about not being able to appear at all in Hotel.

"I'm sad about it. We tried to make it work, but I'm leaving town to go do a movie and they're shooting the last two episodes right now, so Ryan [Murphy] and I said next season we'll do something amazing and devilish," Roberts said. "I love this season, I watch most of it with my eyes closed, but I think I get the gist. I love Lady Gaga so much, so I was like, 'Next season I want to work with Lady Gaga for sure.'"
