Sarah Paulson recently spoke about frequent collaborator Ryan Murphy taking on such a massive project as the story of O.J. Simpson.

What's The Purpose Of Kardashian Family Kids In 'The People v. O.J. Simpson'?

Murphy is one of the executive producers on American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, which stars Paulson as Marcia Clark. It's a bit of a departure for Murphy, who has become well known for such campy and theatrical projects as Glee, American Horror Story and Scream Queens.

But in a recent chat with IMDb and Amazon, Paulson discussed how this style actually lends itself to the story of Simpson.

"I think Ryan, like any real artist, is more versatile than anyone could really know until they're given the opportunity to do the thing that shows what they're really capable of," Paulson said. "With Ryan, The Normal Heart [was] very different than Glee. Every season of AHS has a kind of operatic quality, to be sure, but in varying degrees, and all of that lends itself nicely to OJ actually. There's so much raw, real material going on, Ryan actually always knows where to go, for the heart of everything."

Paulson has previously worked on five seasons of American Horror Story. She has received three Emmy nominations for her work on the series, though she has never won. Will her performance as Marcia Clark finally win her an Emmy? Only time will tell.

American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on FX.
