Based on Hough's comments it seems like it was her own decision to leave rather than the producers' decision. DWTS showrunner Rob Wade spoke of wanting to get her back eventually.

"Julianne will always be a part of the Dancing with the Stars family and we hope to see her back in the ballroom in the future," Wade told People.

Don't be too sad about her leaving; Hough did promise, "It's not the last you'll see of me in the ballroom."

Hough recently starred as Sandy in the highly acclaimed Fox production Grease: Live. She has also starred in a few films over the past six years, including Dirty Grandpa, Safe Haven, Rock of Ages and Footloose.

It remains to be seen what her next career endeavor might be.

As for the Dancing With the Stars panel, longtime fans should be happy to see that the original lineup is back for season 22, with Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.

Dancing With the Stars season 22 premieres Monday, March 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
