The exact circumstances surrounding Dylan O'Brien's Maze Runner: The Death Cure on-set accident are still foggy, but director Wes Ball took to Twitter on Saturday to tell fans what's next for the injured actor.

Following the March 17 incident that sent the Teen Wolf star, the cast and crew of both franchise posted messages of support on social media. Ball and Maze Runner author James Dashner, however, provided both words of sympathy and explanation.

"Well, it's been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days. I've been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt. But, ultimately I find myself left with a deep love and respect for Dylan," Ball said in a hand-written note. "He is one tough cookie. I'm sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew."

"It's scary seeing your friend get hurt, but fortunately, Dylan is going to be just fine," Ball continued. "After a few weeks of rest and recovery he'll be back up and running to finish our adventure together. All the best." Dashner, the mind behind the post-apocalyptic trilogy, updated fans on the fate of production. Filming will be delayed while O'Brien recovers, but it is still unknown if the 2017 release date will be pushed.
