If Outlander season 1 was the year of Black Jack Randall, 2016 will be dominated by the imposing shadow of Le Comte St. Germain.

Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) time in Paris will be fraught with battles, both political and physical. For the time traveler, her feud with St. Germain (Stanley Weber) will start as soon as she walks down the gangway.

"Obviously Claire's big mouth gets her into trouble straight away," Balfe told TV Guide. "They haven't even gotten off the dock...when she gets into trouble. But this introduces the character of Comte St. Germain, who is played wonderfully by Stanley Weber."

Claire, come on, you should know by now that woman won't be allowed to speak their minds for another 200 years! While the hearty folk of Scotland begrudgingly accepted her 20th century headstrong ways, Claire will quickly learn swapping tartan for silk will place her on the outside once more.

While Claire will despise being "relegated to the drawing room to gossip," she will see plenty of action as the Frasers square off with St. Germain. Embroiled in a bit of dangerous subterfuge and illicit activities, Paul Rakoczy will become a formidable foe. Claire will cost the trader an entire shipload of goods, but, once she finds out what he's really into, the lost merchandise will seem irrelevant.

"She's made a pretty ferocious enemy," Balfe told TV Line. "[He is] possibly a lot darker than we first thought."

"[St. Germain is] a dangerous adversary - a very charming one, as well," Heughan explained. His ability to maneuver the political scenes will make him even more of a threat as the newlyweds attempt to change history.
