The Atlantic Coast Conference champion and second-seeded Miami Hurricanes got some bad news this week when they learned reserve big man and leading rebounder Reggie Johnson will be unavailable for Miami's Sweet Sixteen matchup against No. 3 seed Marquette.

Johnson underwent surgery to repair a minor meniscus issue, according to ESPN.com, and will not be available for the Sweet Sixteen or Elite Eight if the Hurricanes are able to get past the Golden Eagles. Miami University said in a statement that Johnson injured his knee in last weekend's win over the Illinois Fighting Illini. When the injury occurred is unclear, and Johnson was on the floor with 15 seconds left on the clock against Illinois.

Johnson, a burly senior, is Miami's largest player standing at six feet ten inches and weighing 290 pounds. He averaged 26 minutes a game off the bench for the Hurricanes and led them in rebounding, pulling in seven per game. He is not much of an offensive threat, however, scoring just 6.7 points per game and shooting 38 percent from the field, a low number for such a massive player.

Miami could miss his presence and ability to clog the lane against the Golden Eagles, whose offense thrives off dumping the ball in the post and letting their centers score down low.

Johnson was productive in a lopsided 78-49 victory over the No. 15 seed Pacific Tigers scoring seven points and grabbing 10 rebounds, but struggled against Illinois, which could've been a product of his injury. Johnson logged just 18 minutes in the 73-69 win and failed to score while recording five rebounds.

Marquette was 13th in the country in field goal percentage this year, largely due to their habit of forcing the ball inside and scoring near the hoop. They have survived two upset scares from Davidson and Butler en route to this matchup with Miami.
