Lana Parrilla recently spoke on how her character on ABC's Once Upon a Time will cope with a crushing loss.

*Spoilers through the latest episode of Once Upon a Time*

Regina (Parrilla) lost her true love, Robin (Sean Maguire), in the most recent episode of Once Upon a Time after sacrificing his life to save hers. Now Regina is left alone, and dealing with the loss in the upcoming two-hour season finale.

Parrilla spoke with TVLine recently about what fans should expect from Regina in the final episodes of the season as she tries to move on with her life.

"I think mourning will continue, over time. Regina is a very private person, she doesn't really share a lot of what's going on inside. Internally, she's conflicted by so many things that she doesn't even talk about," Parrilla said. "So I'm curious to see how she deals with this loss at this stage, at this time in her life. There's been so much evolution, she's come so far, she's been in the shoes of the hero for the last couple of years, so I'm curious to see how she's going to handle this big loss."

The sense of loss will even continue through to season 6, as Parrilla previewed: "I feel like Regina is in a hopeless place right now, and we're going to see how she deals with those emotions in the season finale and also in Season 6."

Moving past Regina, Parrilla also talked about the two new characters who will be introduced in the season finale. There has been buzz surrounding the characters Sean Witwer and Hank Harris will be playing, and Parrilla teased what to expect:

"Yes, you will get a sense of who they are in the finale. They are both really interesting characters, and both very talented actors. I was watching the finale last night, and I was extremely intrigued by both of them," she said. "In Season 6, I think we are going to see some new villains, and some old villains are going to resurface and surprise us in ways that we weren't expecting."

The Once Upon a Time season 5 finale airs Sunday at 7 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
