A man who was tending to an injured rabbit on a highway was struck and killed by a car near Laramie, Wyo., AP reports.

William Kieren, 79, passed away Sunday a a hospital in Fort Collins, Colo., a day after he was struck.

The accident happened Saturday on a two-lane highway at 9 p.m. on Wyoming 230, according to Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Kieren reportedly stopped his car along the highway and was near the center line when an oncoming vehicle struck him. The injured rabbit that he was tending to was still alive after the tragic accidebt but was reportedly put down by a trooper.
