Outlander will send viewers into the hiatus with a "heartstoping" supersized finale and a promise of more. With an adult Brianna set to make her debut and Jamie's life in jeopardy, what more could you ask for?

Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) are on the road to war, marching steadily towards the infamous Battle of Culloden. The fate of Scottish culture hangs in the balance, and, as history tells us, the British will rule the day. "Dragonfly in Amber" will throw viewers right onto the 18th century battlefield as Claire heads back to Scotland 200 years later.

"Claire finally reveals the truth to Brianna about her time travel through the stones, her life in 1700's Scotland, and Brianna's true parentage. The story is intercut with another one back in the 18th century, which happens on the day of the Battle of Culloden," Starz teased. "When Jamie's last ditch attempts to deter The Prince fail, he and Claire come up with a dangerous plan - which Dougal overhears, inciting him to a murderous rage. Jamie must do everything he can to save the ones he loves, even if it means saying goodbye to some - or all - of them."

Set to air on July 9, writers have promised that the 90-minute episode will require quite a few tissues and a bit of good Scottish whisky. Book readers may think they know what's coming, but showrunner Ron Moore has packed in a few twists.

"Ultimately the show has always been about relationships. Not only is that the climax of history, but it's also the climax of the relationships that are happening at the time. It's all doomed, and we can't stop history from happening," Heughan told IGN. "[Season 2] certainly has a climax. [Showrunner Ron Moore] has also got some surprises."
