There are a world of possibilities for Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook's (Colin O'Donoghue) future on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

While season 5 ended in a hopeful way for Emma and Hook (with a not-so-subtle glimpse of a wedding dress in the background), Once Upon a Time showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz won't reveal exactly what's ahead for the pair.

"I would say you'll have to watch season 6, you never know what's going to happen," Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly, when asked directly if wedding bells were in Emma and Hook's futures. "You never know what's going to happen with those two."

It was a tumultuous season for Emma and Hook, especially in the second half. Luckily, Hook is now back from the Underworld and ready to face whatever comes our heroes' way in the episodes to come.

Meanwhile, fans should expect a big change for season 6 compared to seasons 3, 4 and 5. That's because the show will no longer be splitting the season arcs in half, as the showrunners recently teased.

"This season is going to be different from past because it's not going to be Hyde [Sam Witwer] comes to town, we fight with him for 10 episodes, and then in the winter finale, he dies and we move on," Kitsis revealed. "We are changing around what we're doing this year and going back to that season 1 mentality of small town stories and smaller arcs."

"We're also planning a 22-episode story as opposed to breaking it up into two halves this year. It's been really exciting and fun," Horowitz added.

Once Upon a Time is expected to return this fall on ABC in its regular Sundays at 8 p.m. timeslot.
