Paula Abdul made a surprise appearance on "American Idol" Top 5 results show Thursday night to give her opinion on Candice Glover's performance of her hit song "Straight Up" yesterday. 

While Glover was standing on stage to review her performances of the previous night with Ryan Seacrest, Abdul appeared from behind and surprised the contestant. Glover was shocked to see the diva in a bright red mini dress and hugged her with enthusiasm.

Abdul said that she admires Glover and that she has been following her performances throughout the competition and praised her voice.

Then Abdul went to the judges table to greet Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson and Keith Urban.

Also tonight, Clay Aiken and Fantasia performed.

Tonight's elimination will be revealed at 9 p.m. EST.
