Sorry, Girl Meets World fans, but there is one popular 'ship that's an absolute nonstarter.

Those hoping for a romance between the two smartest members of Girl Meets World will be sorely disappointed. Farkle (Corey Fogelmanis) and Riley (Rowan Blanchard) are thick as thieves, but their friendship is just that...a friendship. The Riarkle 'ship is not ready to leave dry dock. In fact, it's not even being built.

Nor, for that matter, is a romance between Farkle and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter).

"We believe Farkle's feelings for Riley and Maya to be equal. He wouldn't change that," the Girl Meets World writers explained on Friday. "That's why he is a genius."

That doesn't mean Farkle will be third-wheeling it as all his friends move upwards and onwards. The teens are at the age where dating is the highlight of their weekends, and Farkle has his eye on someone else.

"No he never has but he has loved them both ever since he met them," the writers said of Farkle's non-existent desire to date his closest pals. "His romantic feelings are for Smackle."

Will Smackle and Farkle become the smartest couple in school? The Girl Meets World squad will begin pairing off over the course of the next few episodes, and we're hoping Minkus' son will get in on the action.

"There are two couples that happen soon and then a third couple that happens because of the two couples," the scribes teased.
