The Land of Untold Stories will provide for deeper dissection of our favorite characters on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

First introduced in the two-part season 5 finale, the Land of Untold Stories is a place filled with escaped refugees seeking sanctuary - a place where time literally stops. As season 6 begins this fall, the story arc will allow the audience to see deeper into our characters, especially Regina/the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla).

"The intent is that these new characters and new stories are really a reflection on what's going on inside of our characters," OUAT executive producer Adam Horowitz said in a new Entertainment Weekly report. "With Lana and the Evil Queen, that's the starkest example, which we've already teased. We're literally going inside her and pulling her apart. There are elements of that that we're planning to do for each and everyone of the characters."

Fans will recall the memorable moment in the season 5 finale in which Regina literally ripped out the Evil Queen's heart, which utterly demolished her. But she received warning that such evil cannot be vanquished so easily, and in the final moments of the season, the Evil Queen was manifest again and was hellbent on seeing revenge on Regina.

"The two roles are obviously going to be very separate in the sense that we saw a snippet of an Evil Queen who looked at what Regina has become and is very disappointed," fellow co-creator Edward Kitsis noted in a previous Entertainment Weekly report. "If she's unleashed, she would show Regina what ripping away everyone's happy ending truly looks like."

As Horowitz added, this will provide for some greater philosophical questions to be explored.

"There's a lot of questions to be asked about what it means when you separate parts of yourself and can you really separate these parts of yourself?" Horowitz said.

Once Upon a Time returns for the premiere of season 6 on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
