Supermodel Cindy Crawford was gung-ho about her 10-year-old daughter, Kaia, stepping into the modeling world with a Versace campaign.

But in an interview this week, Crawford said she wants Kaia to wait until she's older before walking the runway.

"At this point, she's too young to pursue a career," Crawford told The Daily Front Row, a print magazine for New York Fashion Week. "There aren't even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl. But if she's 17 and wants to try it, of course, what can I say?"

Why 17? That's when mom got discovered as the runner-up to Elite's Look of the Year contest. Crawford also says the media may have overthought Kaia's "career."

"Kaia isn't modeling per se -- she doesn't have a portfolio or an agent," Crawford said. "She did one picture and it ended up going everywhere! I didn't quite understand how much media play it would get."

Looks like we won't be seeing more high-end spreads until Kaia finishes high school.
