R&B singer PartyNextDoor recently spoke about co-writing Rihanna's smash hit "Work" and what it meant to work with both her and Drake.

It's no secret that "Work" has torn up the charts, staying at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine straight weeks. The song had many writers, one of which was PartyNextDoor, who recently recalled to The New York Times how the process went down.

PartyNextDoor admitted that the first time he met Rihanna, "the first feeling I got was, 'Why am I here?' All these guys have made hits already."

The R&B singer and producer revealed that "[Rihanna]s label didn't care for Caribbean music at the time," but the singer herself came around to it after admitting "it was all that she could sing around the house."

He added that Rihanna "fought for it. She said, 'This is my family's favorite song.'"

As for Drake, the singer have developed a strong working relationship with his fellow Canadian-born superstar.

"I openly share music with Drake, especially when it's time for him to have a project," PartyNextDoor said. "I have an older brother I can text anytime, someone who's super invested because my name is tied into his. It's just creatives cooking. If he sees something in a song of mine that he feels he can spin around and make better, who am I to say I'm going to selfishly keep it? As a fan of music, that's wrong."

Despite the massive success of "Work", though, PartyNextDoor admitted that he doesn't necessarily want to replicate it with smash hits for other singers.

"It doesn't make me happy," he admitted. "I'm looking for joy. It's a moment for Rihanna and Drake. I want to invest time in creating moments for myself."

PartyNextDoor is signed to Drake's OVO Sound record label. He put out his latest studio album, PARTYNEXTDOOR 3, on Aug. 12, with Drake featuring on the track "Come and See Me".
