GTA 6 seems to have been benched by Rockstar for now. Rumors suggest that the gaming studio has postponed releasing the sixth installment of the series in order to concentrate on new features for GTA 5

Grand Theft Auto 6 is quickly developing into one of the most elusive games in recent gaming history, with its developer, Rockstar Games, stubbornly refusing to divulge any details about the franchise's upcoming installment. After a no-show at the recently-concluded Sony PlayStation event, fans of the franchise have started to become very apprehensive.

In the weeks leading up the Sony event, rumors were high that Rockstar would finally make an appearance and publicly announce some of its upcoming titles. Some rumors even stated that the developer's attendance has already been confirmed and that it would be announcing a blockbuster title.

When those rumors emerged, fans of the franchise deduced that the announcement might be concerned with either Red Dead Redemption 2 or Grand Theft Auto 6. After all, both games are due for a follow-up, with their latest installments getting released years ago.

Neither of the two games showed up at the Sony event, however, with Rockstar not even showing up. Thus, just like rumors about an announcement at E3 2016, fans of the GTA franchise were left disappointed.

With Rockstar's seemingly last-minute decision to pull out of the Sony PlayStation event in mind, rumors have emerged that the developer would temporarily be canceling any developments for Grand Theft Auto 6 for the meantime.

Instead, speculations are high that Rockstar would simply invest its time and energy for the development and improvement of Grand Theft Auto 5, as well as GTA Online.

Considering that both GTA 5 and GTA Online remain to be lucrative products for the developer, it is quite understandable if rumors that GTA 6 had been temporarily canceled by Rockstar prove to be true. After all, if a game is still raking in income, there is little reason to take it off the shelf.

Rockstar has always been known to be a developer that focuses more on the quality of its games than on the number of titles it releases. Thus, with the delay in GTA 6's release, there is a very good chance that when the game does launch, it would include and integrate the best that technology could offer.

Maybe a GTA VR might even be released in the near future. Now that's a title that would certainly fly off the shelves faster than ever before.
