Grand Theft Auto fans have been led on twice this year by speculations about GTA 6's official announcement. Over the last few months, rumors were rife with suggestions that Rockstar Games would be unveiling Grand Theft Auto 6 at E3 2016. When that didn't happen, fans became hopeful that Gamescom 2016 would be the venue where the highly-anticipated title would be launched.

Alas, that didn't happen either. However, there might still be hope for a 2016 unveiling for Grand Theft Auto 6, with the upcoming New York Sony PlayStation press conference this September.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Reveal Coming?

The official reveal of GTA 6 has been in the rumor mill for quite some time. Over the last couple of years, fans have been speculating about what the new installment in the long-running franchise will hold. Amidst all the speculations, however, fans are unanimous in the notion that Grand Theft Auto 6 would be a far more expansive game than its predecessors.

As for the game's reveal, Rockstar Games is due for a blockbuster announcement soon. Thus, even if the game were to be released years from now, revealing that the project is at least already under development would address most of fans' concerns and remove any doubt about the creation of the game's next installment.

Grand Theft Auto 6 to Make Way for Red Dead Redemption 2

Recent rumors have suggested that Rockstar Games would be unveiling a blockbuster title soon, with the most likely date being this September's PlayStation event. With Sony's press conference most likely to host the official reveal of the PlayStation 4 Neo, the chances of Rockstar unveiling a highly-anticipated game on the event are pretty high.

As many GTA fans have noted, however, there is a pretty good chance that Rockstar Games would be unveiling another AAA title on September's event, Red Dead Redemption 2. Announcing the Western title would actually make sense for Rockstar, since the last installment in the Red Dead franchise was released more than half a decade ago.

What of Grand Theft Auto 6?

It is quite safe to assume that the future of the Grand Theft Auto franchise is safe, with the series considered as one of the most successful and lucrative brands of all time. Thus, it would only be a matter of time before an official announcement for Grand Theft Auto 6 would be released.
