It appears fans who were upset that Morgan Corinthos could soon be off-screen permanently following Bryan Craig's departure from General Hospital may not actually have to worry, as the show appears to be recasting the role.

Fresh off the news that Craig asked to be let out of his contract early, Soap Opera Digest reports that the soap has put out a casting call for a character who sounds suspiciously like the front-burner character and mobster's son.

"20 to 25 years old, Caucasian male," the call reads. "he is brooding and intense. He is complicated and troubled. Underneath his edge is a soulful young man trying to figure things out."

If the show is in fact recasting Morgan, it'd be interesting to see if they chose to bring in someone completely new to soaps, or if they instead decided to bring in someone more familiar from a past show. Here are three actors who could potentially fill the tole well:

Aaron Sanders

Before Craig assumed the role when Morgan came back from military school in 2013, it was briefly portrayed by Aaron Sanders from 2010-2011. An easy casting decision would be bringing in someone who already has experience with the role. However, Sanders may be a bit too young and fresh-faced for the role, as he is only 20 years old.

Jesse McCartney

The singer/actor was once a soap star himself before breaking into the music business first with the band Dreamstreet, then his solo career. The 29-year-old once portrayed the conflicted and somewhat brooding teen version of JR Chandler on All My Children from 1998-2001, and could easily bring that brooding nature to a young adult version of Morgan Corinthos.

Robert Scott Wilson

The 28-year-old actor is already an alum of both the short-lived online reboot of All My Children (where he portrayed a grown up Pete Cortland), and Days of Our Lives, where he wrapped the role of crazy and evil Ben Weston earlier this year. Already a familiar face to most soap fans, he'd be a great choice for the role, and there's no question he could tap into a darker and more brooding intensity when needed for scenes where Morgan is dealing with his bipolar disorder, after his shockingly dark portrayal of Ben after he was revealed to be a serial killer on DOOL.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
