‘The Blacklist’ Season 4 Episode 2 Spoilers: Will Mr. Kaplan’s Betrayal to Red Cause Her Death?

"The Blacklist" season 4, episode 2 promises to bring one surprise after another. Will this episode finally concludes Mr. Kaplan's betrayal to Red?

"The Blacklist" season 4, episode 2 entitled "Mato" already has a teaser released right after the airing of the first episode. In the video posted on YouTube, the show tells its viewers to be ready "for one surprise after another, after another, after another."

While most are ready to talk about who the real father of Liz (Megan Boone) is and what the effects would be when she revisits the place where she grew up, there is another storyline crucial to the TV series. What exactly will become of Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert)?

The teaser for the next episode has hinted that one of the surprises in store for the avid fans of the show has something to do with Red (James Spader) and Kaplan's strained relationship. The pilot episode of this new season, the Wall Street Journal noted, made it clear how hard it is for Red to trust Kaplan again and in the trailer for "Mato," he clearly told her that "I can't trust you."

Based on the teaser, one of the surprises the creators have in store for the fans has something to do with the betrayal Kaplan had done. Right before the clip showing the two old friends, the phrase "after another" flashes pertaining to one of the big revelations. With a gritty show like "The Blacklist," viewers cannot expect anything less than a mind blowing twist. So what happens to their tried and tested friendship?

First, given Red's excessive revulsion for Kaplan's betrayal, he might kill her right then and there.  Although this might be a little far-fetched even for a criminal like Red, the hatred he has for Kaplan may just be what seals her coffin, literally.

Second, Kaplan's loyalty to Red, before her betrayal, is squeaky clean. She had been not just a part of his syndicate but has become one of his fiercest friends. With how Red has been treating her ever since faking Liz's death, it might be that it would be Kaplan who will take her own life. This can be a gesture to prove him her faithfulness.

While the first theories may be bordering on absurdity, this last theory may be something a little more like the show, filled with secrets and revelations. To gain Red's trust back, Kaplan may be forced to tell him another secret she is keeping. With rumors circulating that Liz's mother is still alive, it is not impossible that Kaplan may know about this and may just cough it out to Red.
