Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are scheduled to perfom - along with Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera and Bruno Mars - on May 19 at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

The ceremony will take place at the MGM Casino in Las Vegas and will air on ABC. Other confirmed performers Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne -who will perform a duet - as well as Chris Brown. Tracy Morgan will host the Music Awards and Don Mischer will be producing the show.

Gomez will perform her latest single Come and Get It, according to Billboard. Nominees were revealed in April and Taylor Swift, Fun., and Maroon 5 will each be up to for 11 nominations. They will compete for the awards Top Hot 100 Artist and Top Digital Songs Artist, among others.

Rihanna will compete in 10 categories, including Top Artist against Swift, Maroon 5, Justin Bieber and One Direction. The latter is a finalist in eight categories and Carly Rae Jepsen is a finalist in nine categories.

Also performing will be music icon Prince, who will reportedly be rewarded for his contributions to the music industry with the Billboard Icon Award. Bieber, Swift, and Mars will be competing for the Milestone Award, to be presented by Chevrolet.

Ne-Yo and Akon will team with David Guetta for a performance.

Decisions for the finalists are based on fan interactions with music. This included sales of albums singles, how many times they were played on the radio, artist and band tours, streaming and interactions on social media. These elements were tracked year-round by Billboard, Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound.
