It was very recently when the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reported yet another strange and interesting facts about one of their discoveries.

This time, it was about Mars. Mars is the closest planet to Earth. This is why Earth has sent a number of things to Mars to explore it. The Mars Rover is one of them. The Rover goes around and searches the surface of Mars in order to find more details about the red neighbor.

Recently, it stumbled upon a metallic rock. This rock would not have been a big deal if it was not for the fact it looked nothing like any other rock ever seen on Mars ever before.

There is a video about it on Yahoo. It closely demonstrates the figure of the rock as well as it contents. At first glance it looked very smooth and spherical. It was named somewhere along the lines of Mars' Egg Rock because of its smooth surface and shape.

Then, the rover shot a few lasers at its surface and revealed its contents. To everyone' surprise it contained iron, nickel, and phosphorus. These three are very common metals here on earth and space. However they are very rare metals on Mars.

After reading Business Insider's article it may seem at first that the rock could originate from Mars' core, a place humans have not reached yet. However it was later revealed to be wrong.

According to the people at NASA. The rock is a meteorite that came from space. These three elements inside of it are common in meteorites. It probably came through Mars' atmosphere and the heat caused the metals to melt and mold together like a spherical ball.

The interesting fact is that the rock could very well be more than a million years old. It just lay there on Mars' surface till the Rover came across it.
