To the dismay of its many fans, Showtime's Dexter will be entering its eight and final season when it returns in June. While they'll be several characters that will surely be missed, there's actually some newbies that have yet to be introduced, which now includes former Shield standout Kenny Johnson, who will be joining the cast for a multi-episode arc.

According to TVLine, Johnson will come on board the popular series to don the role of U.S. Marshall Cooper, "a no-nonsense and formidable lawman who is hired by P.I. Jacob Elway to hunt down an infamous criminal," who could very well end up chasing after Dexter (Michael C. Hall).

In other Dexter news, Dread Central previously reported that Season 8 storyline will be kicking off six months following Captain LaGuerta's (Lauren Velez) death, with Dexter still trying to balance his unraveling life as a dad and vigilante murderer.  His sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) will also be struggling to cope with pulling the trigger on LaGuerta while a mystery woman begins working at Miami Metro, giving up information about Dex's past.

Showtime's' Dexter is set to make its return on Sunday, June 30 at 9/8 p.m. Central.  Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on America's favorite serial killer.  The latest trailer put out by the cable network can be watched below.
