According to the claims made by Fisher, the two stars shared three months of secret relationship which they kept hidden for past 40 years. According to Global News, the affair actually happened in 1976 when they were filming Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

As cited on US Today, Carrie Fisher has now decided to come clean after keeping that little secret of theirs for almost 40 years. The couple in the movie had an affair in real life too.

60-years old Fisher told People Magazine, "It really was intense." "It was Leia and Han during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend," she added.

An article featured at Vanity Fair says, at that time, Fisher was 19 and was a popular figure being the daughter of famous Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. On the other hand, Ford was 33 years of age and had two children as well. The book that fisher has written goes into the detail of the affair the two had. It reveals that Fisher and Ford got together for the first time after attending George Lucas', the director of Star Wars, birthday party.

The two spent their first night together after the birthday party. Fisher also admits that she really had doubts in her mind about the future of their relationship right from the beginning.

It is reported that Ford was aware of the fact that Fisher is going to disclose their relationship in The Princess Diarist and was also provided with the draft before it got published.
